Afraid of a Mirror

Eisoptrophobia, or the fear of mirrors, goes beyond vanity; it’s rooted in the fear of seeing one’s own reflection or the potential for mirrors to be portals to another dimension or to capture souls. Other reasons include not wanting to see one’s own reflection because of perceived ugliness or despise of one’s own features.

People with this phobia might avoid mirrors completely, experience distress in environments with reflective surfaces, or have specific rituals around looking into mirrors.

This can impact daily routines, like grooming, and social activities where mirrors are common, such as in bathrooms or dressing rooms.
